4 Backyard Upgrades To Tackle This Summer

An awesome outdoor space is usually high on the wish list of homebuyers. Make your home irresistible to them – and yourself – with these backyard upgrades.

Add a deck or patio. Every backyard needs some sort of gathering space – even if it’s tiny. Building a deck from wood or composite or a small stone patio gives the perfect platform for outdoor living.

Add landscaping features. The best part of having an outdoor space is that it brings you closer to nature. So celebrate nature with a beautiful flowerbed or a tasty herb garden. And if you have the space to add in a small water feature, consider doing so as the sound of running water is soothing and can block out the noises of your neighbourhood.

Add outdoor lighting. If you’ve ever seen photos of a backyard space strung with twinkle lights you know it just looks like a place you want to hang out. Aside from string lights, outdoor pendant lights and sconces are two more great ways the add a warm glow to your evening outdoor events.

Add an outdoor fireplace. Depending on the size of your yard and the building codes where you live, you may be able to install an outdoor fireplace. Not only does it make chilly summer nights cozier, it also extends the summer into fall as you can stay outside even as the temperatures begin to drop.
